How to Make an Authentic Irish Coffee
First, start by pouring hot water into a footed glass mug or your Irish coffee mugs. Whichever, you choose to use. Let it sit to warm the glass and then pour the water out. This will help ensure that your warm drink will remain warm.
Then grab a bottle of Jameson Irish whiskey. Using a cocktail jigger, measure out Jameson.
Pour the Jameson into the warm glass.
If you are opting for a sweetener you can add it now. 2 tsp brown sugar is the most popular option, but you can also use maple syrup, or simple syrup to sweeten your Jameson Irish coffee. Then add the hot coffee to the glass mug.
Do not fill the coffee up to the top of the mug. Leave a small amount of room for the cream.
Then add the cream to the top of the coffee. Most opt for whipped double cream over the back of a spoon to help the cream float. Or you can also use lightly whipped cream if you’d like.
