Ginger Turmeric Tea Recipe Ingredients
This turmeric ginger cinnamon tea recipe is made with all fresh ingredients that you can find at local grocery stores, Whole Foods, and online. You will need:
- 2 tsp turmeric root, peeled and grated
- 2 Tbsp ginger root, peeled and sliced (appx 2″ knob)
- 2 whole cinnamon sticks
- 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp raw honey
- 2.5 cups of water
You will also need a small saucepan and a fine-mesh strainer.

How to Make Herbal Hot Tea
First, peel and grate the turmeric using a standard vegetable peeler and grater.
The benefits of turmeric are extensive. Turmeric, and its active ingredient curcumin, may have anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antioxidant, and other amazing beneficial properties. Some theories say that the active compound in turmeric is activated by the addition of black pepper. You can add a pinch of black pepper to the tea for better absorption of curcumin if you’d like.

Next, peel and slice the ginger root. Ginger has been used for generations for its natural medicinal properties. It has been known to possibly treat respiratory problems, aid in digestion, and improve the immune system.

Then add filtered plain water to a small saucepan with the turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon sticks.

Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for 30 minutes. The tea will turn a deep orange during the simmering process.

Strain the Tea
Carefully, use a fine mesh strainer to strain the hot tea.

Add one tablespoon of lemon juice to each mug of tea.

Pour the tea into each mug.

Then add the honey to the tea. Make sure to use raw, unfiltered honey. Local is also great because it could help with allergies. Alternatively, you can opt for maple syrup or another sweetener of your choice.

Stir until the honey dissolves in the warm tea.
