When is Eggnog Available in Stores?

Whether you use store-bought eggnog or make your own you have to admit that just seeing that pre-made eggnog on the shelf in the grocery store gets you in the holiday spirit. Eggnog can not be found all year round, in fact, it only shows up in stores during the holiday time of year. Typically, eggnog is sold starting around November 1st at many grocery stores. Maybe that’s what makes it feel so special. You can find traditional eggnog, vegan eggnog, and oat milk eggnog. Choose whichever you prefer to make your own eggnog latte.

How to Make a Homemade Eggnog Latte

First, brew a cup of coffee. You can use a standard drip coffee machine, an Aeropress, a French press, or whichever method you normally use to make your morning coffee. Two shots of espresso are another option. Set the coffee aside.

Then pour the eggnog into a milk-frothing pitcher or small saucepan.

Next, add the milk to the pitcher (or saucepan).  You can use whole milk or non-dairy milk. We love cashew and almond milk.

You can change the amount of eggnog to milk ratio in the milk mixture if you’d like. Feel free to use more eggnog and just a little milk. This comes down to personal preference.

Warm the eggnog mixture over medium heat, stirring continuously. You want the mixture to warm without boiling.

Then use a handheld milk frother, like this one here, and froth the eggnog mixture. This will create the frothy topping that is infamous with a latte drink.

If you don’t have a milk frother, you can shake the milk and eggnog in a mason jar for a similar effect.

This is our favorite drink to sip on Christmas morning or after Christmas dinner. A drizzle of maple syrup is a great way to add a bit more sweetness to your eggnog latte if you so desire.
