This peppermint hot chocolate recipe uses simple ingredients and is plant-based, dairy-free, and vegan. You don’t need to follow a certain diet to enjoy this delicious peppermint hot cocoa recipe. Peppermint Candy Flavored Hot Cocoa
First, pour the milk into a medium saucepan or milk frothing pitcher. As far as the milk goes, use your favorite milk of choice. You can use whole milk, oat milk, almond milk, or full-fat coconut milk. We are using cashew milk.
Then add the maple syrup, vanilla extract, and pure peppermint extract to the pitcher or saucepan.Â
These are the cacao wafers. Think of cacao wafers as giant vegan chocolate chips. They are 100% cacao, unsweetened baking chocolate. Cacao wafers are certified organic cacao beans made from certified USDA Organic and Fair Trade cacao. Cacao wafers are also dairy-free chocolate. These wafers are great for brownies, chocolate cake, hot cocoa, truffles, mousse, keto treats, and more.
Next, add the cacao wafers to the saucepan.Â
Warm the homemade hot chocolate mix over low to medium heat and stir until the cacao dark chocolate is fully melted. The melted chocolate is what makes this easy peppermint hot chocolate so creamy.Â
Once melted remove the creamy hot cocoa mix from the heat and whisk using either a handheld milk frother, a high speed blender, or an immersion to fully combine this minty chocolate treat.Â
Pour a cup of peppermint hot chocolate into your favorite mug.Â
Easy Peppermint Mocha for the Christmas Season
You can garnish this cup of hot chocolate with candy canes or peppermint candies. We like to top the cup of cocoa with whipped cream (dairy-free or regular), and dark chocolate shavings.Â
This is our favorite warm drink for chilly days during the winter months. The combination of chocolate with a little peppermint flavor makes this the perfect recipe for Christmas Eve.
