Iced Chocolate Coffee Recipe Ingredients
To make this homemade iced mocha you will only need a few simple ingredients. These items can be found at the local grocery store and online. You will need:
- 4 oz milk of choice
- 6 oz cold brew coffee
- 5 cacao wafers
- optional:
- whipped cream
- chocolate sauce
- dark chocolate shavings
- additional sweetener of choice
Many mocha iced coffee recipes use chocolate syrup or cocoa powder to achieve the rich chocolate flavor. We are using pure cacao wafers. Think of cacao wafers as giant vegan chocolate chips. They are 100% cacao, unsweetened baking chocolate. Cacao wafers are certified organic cacao beans made from certified USDA Organic and Fair Trade cacao making them a more pure form of chocolate. Cacao wafers are also dairy-free chocolate.
How to Make a Homemade Iced Mocha Coffee
First, pour the milk into a milk-frothing pitcher or small saucepan. We are using cashew milk. You can use whichever milk you prefer. Whole milk, almond milk, oat milk, and coconut milk all work fine.
Next, add the cacao wafers to the milk.
Heat over low-medium heat until the cacao wafers are melted. Give a good stir as the chocolate melts to make sure you don’t burn the chocolate or boil the milk.
Once the cacao is melted use a handheld milk frother to thoroughly combine. This will give you frothy chocolate milk similar to our homemade hot chocolate.
Then fill a tall glass with coffee ice cubes. You can make your own homemade coffee cubes with an ice cube tray and strong brewed coffee.
Next, pour the homemade chocolate milk into the glass. Using coffee ice cubes will prevent the coffee flavor from diluting as they melt from the warmth of the chocolate milk. This works well with all hot coffee drinks we well.
Then pour the cold brew coffee into the glass. This easy iced mocha recipe is not sweet. The cacao is pure unsweetened chocolate. If you would like to add a sweetener to this cold brew mocha make sure to add it before the toppings. A few shots of simple syrup or maple syrup will sweeten this cold coffee drink to your own personal preference.
Cold Brew Iced Mocha Coffee Recipe
Top your homemade iced mocha coffee with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle.
When you make your own iced mocha you can control all the flavors and sweetness levels. The best part is that you don’t even need a fancy espresso maker. The combination of chocolate and coffee makes this the perfect iced latte for coffee lovers.
This mocha latte is not sweet on its own. You must add sweetener of choice to your preferred sweetness level.
