Creamy Kahlua Hot Chocolate Ingredients
The base of this boozy hot chocolate is our vegan hot chocolate recipe. When you combine that easy homemade hot chocolate with Kahlua coffee liqueur you are in for a special treat. You will need a handful of ingredients:
Vegan Hot Cocoa
- 1 cup (8oz) cashew milk (here)
- 9 raw cacao wafers (here)
- 2 1/2 tsp pure maple syrup (here)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of sea salt
Plus Kahlua
- 1 oz or one shot of Kahlua
How to Make Kahlua Hot Cocoa with Cashew Milk
First, start by making the original dairy-free delicious hot chocolate recipe. Combine the cacao wafers, cashew milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan and warm on the stove top over medium heat until the cacao wafers are thoroughly melted.
These are the cacao wafers. Think of cacao wafers as giant vegan chocolate chips. They are 100% cacao, unsweetened baking chocolate. Cacao wafers are certified organic cacao beans made from certified USDA Organic and Fair Trade cacao. Cacao wafers are also dairy-free chocolate. We also use these cacao wafers in our easy peppermint hot chocolate recipe.
Once the cacao is melted use a handheld frother to froth or whisk to fully combine the melted chocolate with the milk and other ingredients. The rich pure cacao chocolate and cashew milk create an extremely rich and creamy hot cocoa that tastes better than any powdered hot cocoa mix. Then set aside.
Dairy Free Hot Chocolate and Kahlua Recipe
Pour the Kahlua into the bottom of your favorite mug.
Then add the healthy hot chocolate into the mug.
Go ahead and add your favorite toppings. A few options are dairy-free whipped cream, vegan marshmallows, or mini marshmallows, shaved dark chocolate, cinnamon sticks, or candy canes. We opt for dairy-free whipped cream and a few shavings from a dark chocolate bar.
