Anti-Inflammatory Pineapple Tea Ingredients
This sweet pineapple tea is easy to make, delicious, and has numerous health benefits as an added bonus. It isn’t one of those exact measurements type of recipe, so you do have flexibility. You will need:
- pineapple rinds from one pineapple fruit, plus a few pineapple chunks
- peel of one orange
- a nob of fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
- one or two pieces of fresh turmeric roots, peeled and sliced
- a few cinnamon sticks
- pinch of black pepper
- 9-10 cups water
- optional – maple syrup to sweeten
How to Prep the Pineapple for Pineapple Peel Tea
First, you will need to clean the pineapple. We do suggest using an organic pineapple, and even with organic, you should still clean it. You can use a vegetable brush or produce wash. This is the produce wash that we use to clean our fruits and veggies: produce wash.
Wash the pineapple, and make sure to rinse it with clean water. Don’t worry, the produce wash won’t affect the taste of the pineapple.
Next, cut the top off of the pineapple.
Then cut off the bottom as well.
Health Benefits of Pineapple:
Pineapple juice is full of bromelain which is a powerful enzyme known for its anti-inflammatory benefits, reducing pain and swelling, and improving digestion. The enzyme bromelain is also said to control blood clotting, and cholesterol levels and can help to reduce swelling of the nasal passages and the production of mucus often caused by allergies.
Stand the pineapple up and slice down the sides removing the skin, just like we do when cutting the pineapple to make fresh juice in our how to juice a pineapple post.
Place the pineapple skin into a large pot.
Add a few chunks of pineapple flesh to the pot.

Next, add the skin from one orange and the rest of the ingredients to the pot.
Health Benefits of Oranges:
Oranges are known to have a high amount of vitamin C, which helps to boost the body’s immune system to protect against viruses and germs. It is also said to help in the formation of new red blood cells.
Use a standard peeler to remove the skin from fresh turmeric root.
Then slice the turmeric and add it to the pot.
Health Benefits of Turmeric:
Turmeric, and its active ingredient curcumin, may have anti-inflammatory properties, anticancer, antioxidant, and other amazing beneficial properties.
Do the same for the fresh ginger root.
Health Benefits of Ginger:
Ginger has been used for generations for its natural medicinal properties. It has been known to possibly treat respiratory problems, aid in digestion, and improve the immune system.
Add a few cinnamon sticks and a pinch of black pepper to the pot to activate the turmeric.
Health Benefits of Cinnamon:
Studies suggest that cinnamon may help improve gut health, support blood sugar control, protect against heart disease, and reduce inflammation.
Next, add 9-10 cups of water to the pot. We like to use filtered water instead of tap.
Boil this sweet tea recipe, covered, over medium-high heat for one hour. Then turn off the heat and let it sit on the stove in the pot for another hour until it comes to room temperature, or close to it.
*Note – if you are unable to find fresh herbs you can use 2 Tbsp ground ginger, and 2 Tbsp ground turmeric in place of the raw roots.
Strain the Pineapple Skin Tea
Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the pineapple tea from the fruit skins and spices.
Delicious Pineapple Tea Recipe
Transfer your refreshing drink to a large pitcher.
We love this glass pitcher. It actually has a built-in fine mesh filter at the top which would eliminate the need to strain the pineapple tea at all. You can find it online here: glass pitcher.
This delicious drink can be enjoyed in different ways. Drink it cold with ice cubes and fresh mint as a perfect summer drink. Or enjoy it hot during cooler weather months.
Juicy pineapple is naturally sweet on its own, but you can add additional sweetener with a drizzle of maple syrup or a little bit of honey.
